How do I order prescriptions from SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy?

  1. We will contact your physician to obtain the prescriptions by:
    • Asking your physician to FAX the prescription to 1-800-830-5292 or
    • Asking your physician to provide the prescription order over the phone.
  2. Order Refills on your Medication: You may call the pharmacy at 1-800-218-5688 to re-order your medications. We understand everyone is busy, so in case you forget to call us, your dedicated SpecialtyScripts team member will contact you approximately 7 days before your medication supply expires so there is no interruption in treatment.

Co-payments may be made by check, money order, or credit card.

What if I have questions?

SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy has a dedicated team of registered pharmacists prepared to answer your questions and address all therapy support needs through our toll-free number 1-800-218-5688. Our normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am-7pm, EST. For assistance after hours, our medical answering service will contact the on-call pharmacist who will promptly return your call.

How easy is it to order a refill?

VERY EASY. A week before your next refill, call our toll-free number 1-800-218-5688 and speak to a SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy representative. The representative will confirm your information and assess potential therapy issues such as having any unmanageable side effects. If you forget to call, we will call with a refill reminder.

Is it safe to order prescription drugs through the mail?

YES. SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy’s highly qualified clinical pharmacists have been filling prescriptions through mail service for years. SpecialtyScripts guarantees that prescriptions will be filled according to the highest standards. Every prescription is checked against the patient's profile and verified by a registered pharmacist.

How will my order be handled?

SpecialtyScripts can process prescriptions you request by mail or telephone. We also can fill prescriptions transferred from any pharmacy as well as those faxed by a physician.

Once your order arrives, the pharmacist reviews the prescription and compares it against your patient profile, then dispenses and verifies it before shipping. Medication can be delivered to your home, office, doctor's office, or any other address that you specify, even if it's different from your mailing address.

How long will it take to process a normal order?

Medications are usually shipped within 24 to 48 hours of our receipt of your prescription using priority overnight service. The actual ship date will depend on whether or not we need to contact your doctor about the prescription.

What if English is not my primary language?

SpecialtyScripts offers a language translation service for more than 20 languages to assist in supporting your needs. Certified medical translators are available to interpret the communication between the patient and pharmacist.

Can I have my prescription transferred to SpecialtyScripts from my local pharmacy?

Will my medication cost more if I use SpecialtyScripts instead of my local pharmacy?

NO. Generally, for patients with a copayment, the copay amount is the same as retail pharmacies. However, the benefits for the same copayment highlight the difference is service! Since SpecialtyScripts keeps medications on hand and does not have to special order them there is no delay in getting the medication to you. Plus, you do not have to travel anywhere to receive your medication or stand in lines for your prescription; SpecialtyScripts can ship the medication right to your doorstep or other location of choice.

If my medication needs to be refrigerated, can it still be shipped by mail?

YES. SpecialtyScripts will ship medications requiring refrigeration and other special handling by using insulated packages set according to manufacturer guidelines.

How important is it that I take all of my medication?

At SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy, we understand that some medications may cause unpleasant side effects or are difficult to administer. Therefore, our registered pharmacists are always available to give you practical advice on dealing with these issues or you may contact your doctor about medical management of these side effects.

What if my physician needs to give me the injectable drug at the office?

SpecialtyScripts can deliver the medication wherever it is most convenient for you, whether that be the physician’s office, your home, or other location of choice.

I sometimes forget when it is time to refill my medications. What if I call after the refill date?

SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy is proactive in contacting patients with refill reminder phone calls just in case you forget to call us. We track patient refill activity and contact patients 7 days prior to their refill date to ensure you receive your medication on time. Additionally, you will receive a refill reminder card with each order highlighting a suggested reorder date. The card has an adhesive strip enabling you to post the reminder in a convenient place.

My medication needs to be refrigerated. Can medications like this be shipped in the mail?

YES. SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy ships drugs that require refrigeration in insulated packages according to manufacturer recommended guidelines. This maintains full potency and product integrity.

My medicine has expired. What should I do?

It is possible for a medication to lose its strength or become toxic as it ages. If you need to continue taking an expired medicine, request a refill from our pharmacy. If there are no refills remaining, ask your doctor for a new prescription. If you no longer need to take an expired oral medication, discard the medicine and the bottle as you would any unused medicine. Injectible medication should be discarded in a legally approved disposal system.

How should I dispose of unused/unwanted medicines?

You should always dispose of unused or unwanted medicines. These should be disposed in a safe manner. Empty the bottles and destroy the medicine. Do not throw away medicine in the bottle. These can fall into the hands of a child.

What if I can’t pay for my treatment?

  1. Start by talking to your doctor.
    If you're worried about how you'll pay for treatment, a good place to start is by talking to your doctor. Your doctor can also help you apply for most assistance programs.
  2. Contact your insurance company.
    If you have health insurance of your own or through work, you or your doctor can find out if the insurance company will pay for some of the costs of your drugs.
  3. Look into government programs.
    If you're uninsured or your insurance won't pay for your medicine, one of these government programs may be able to help. Contact them for assistance.
  4. Check out the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Website.
    If you can't get your medicine through your insurance or government programs, the pharmaceutical manufacturers may have a support program to help pay for you medication.

What if my allergies, medication dosage, or health conditions have changed?
